Carolyn J. Carpenter

Carolyn, J. Carpenter, 74, of Mt. Vernon, formerly of Cisne, IL. passed away Sunday, May 4, 2025.

Carolyn was born March 18, 1951, in Fairfield, IL .to Leroy and Dorothy (Deisher) Pope. Carolyn married Willam “Harold” Carpenter on August 28, 1971, at Buckeye Christian Church in Geff, IL. Harold preceded her in death on April 2, 2018.

Carolyn was a hairdresser and a homemaker. She was member of the Pleasant Grove Christian Church and Cisne Garden Club. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, quilting, and attending her kids’ and grandchildren’s activities at school. Carolyn enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends.

Carolyn is survived by her daughter Amy (Shannon) Hamlin of Mt. Vernon, IL. two sons Matthew Carpenter of Dupo, IL. and Nathan Carpenter of St. Louis MO; Also surviving are two grandchildren Levi and Kenzie Hamlin; one great granddaughter Leah Hamlin; sister Dena (Russell) Moore, two brothers Tom (Debbie) Pope and Jim (Sherry) Pope; sisters-in-law Joy Wilkerson, Betty (John) Oldham, and Mabel Smith, and one brother-in-law Bob Carpenter.

Preceding her in death was her husband Harold Carpenter, parents Leroy and Dorothy Pope, in-laws John and Margaret Carpenter.

Visitation: Will be held Thursday, May 8, 2025, from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at Hosselton-Meridith Funeral Home, Cisne, IL.

Funeral Services: Will be Friday, May 9, 2025, at 10:00am at Pleasant Grove Christian Church in Geff, IL.

Burial: Will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
