C. Denise Kunz

C. Denise Kunz, 56, of Summerfield, IL, died March 17, 2010, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville, IL.

Denise was born October 22, 1953 in Amarillo, TX, to William A. and Marye Lou (nee Sullivan) Lion, both survive.  On August 17, 1974 she married Steve Kunz at Scott Air Force Base, Belleville, IL

Denise was the first woman fire-fighter in Summerfield, IL.  She was known as Mimi to her granddaughter's.  She worked in the accounting/bookkeeping department of USF&G Insurance for many years.

Denise is survived by her husband, Steve Kunz, Summerfield, IL, one son, William (Angela) Kunz, Trenton, IL; one daughter, Angie Taylor, Doniphan, MO; two granddaughter's, Rebekah Lyn, and Chase Marie Kunz; her parents, two sisters, Deborah (Bob) Lugge, O'Fallon, IL, Susan (Lynn) Overstreet, Marietta, GA; two brothers, Steven Lion, O'Fallon, IL, Christopher (Laura) Lion, Austin, TX; Many nieces and nephews; Father-in-law, Fremond (Vera) Kunz; four brothers-in-law, Fred (Sue) Kunz, Lebanon, IL, Dan Kunz, Highland, IL, Dave Kunz, Greenville, IL, Alan (Jane) Kunz, Freeburg, IL; two sister's-in-law, Christie (Fred) Lanning, Trenton, IL, Dawn (Bart) Gruender, Trenton, IL

She was pre-deceased by a brother, Jon David Lion, in infancy, and her mother-in-law, Betty Korte.

Memorial Visitation: Saturday, March 20, 2010 4:00 - 7:00 pm at St. John's United Church of Christ, Summerfield, IL.

Memorial Service: Saturday, March 20, 2010, 7:00 pm at the Church.  Rev. Hal Santos & Rev. Gary Kniepkamp, Pastor, officiating.
