Billy J. Vann

Billy J. Vann, of Collinsville, IL, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at Memorial Care Center in Belleville, IL.

He was born January 25, 1935, to Homer and Mae Ruth (nee Neal) Vann in Winona, MO. He married the love of his life, Von McDaniel on September 1, 1956, in Leesville, LA.

Billy loved his family more than anything.   He was a treasured husband, father, grandpa, and great grandpa.  He enjoyed fishing, going to state fairs, homecomings and  yard sales .   Billy enjoyed taking long scenic drives with Von, especially driving up the Great River Road to eagle watch.   He absolutely adored being a grandpa to his 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and was so proud of them all. Billy loved life and living it to the fullest.  He was a great man and will be dearly missed by many.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Mae Ruth Vann; son, Craig Vann; brother, Clarence Vann.

Billy is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Von Vann; children, Rhonda (Ron) Schmidt, Steven Vann; daughter-in-law, Sandy Mann; grandchildren, Kristi (Ricky) Rogers, Josh Vann, Brett Vann, Christopher (Lacey) Schmidt, Jeremy Schmidt, Garrett (Alisia) Schmidt and 9 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Salem Cemetery Association.
