Betty Leathers Ellis

Betty Leathers Ellis, 92, of Albion, IL, formerly of Fairfield, IL, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, IN.

Betty was born November 16, 1930, to Pearl and Lillie E. (Brown) Leathers at Cisne, IL.

She married Robert L. ‘Bob’ Ellis, Sr. June 3, 1949, at Johnsonville, IL.  He preceded her in death September 6, 2004.

Betty was the former co-owner of Bob’s Phillip 66 Gas Station in Fairfield, IL for several years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fairfield, IL where she taught Sunday School for many years.

Betty is survived by a daughter Judy and her husband Clyde Mullinnax of Fairfield, IL; two sisters Shirley Stevens of Flora, IL and Jeanne Leathers of Fairfield, IL; four grandchildren Robert (Francie) Ellis III of Albion, IL, Chris (Lee) Ellis of Chandler, IN, Jeremy Ellis of Albion, IL and Josh Mullinax of Ft. Smith, AK; ten great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; three sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law Dee Thompson of Rinard, IL. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert Sr., son Robert Jr., daughter-in-law Sharlyn, three sisters Loreta, Bonnie, and Donna and four brothers Robert, Bill, Jerry, and Jack.

Visitation:  5:00pm – 7:00pm Saturday, February 18, 2023, at Hosselton-Meridith Funeral Home.

Funeral Service:  2:00pm Sunday, February 19, 2023, at Hosselton-Meridith Funeral Home.

Burial:  Johnsonville Cemetery, Johnsonville, IL.

Memorials may be given to Edwards County Senior Citizens or Wayne County Humane Society and will be accepted at Hosselton-Meridith Funeral Home.
