Albert “Butch” L. Doty, 66, of Lebanon, IL, died Saturday, September 7, 2013, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL.
Butch was born October 11, 1946, to Annette Sayles, at St. Joseph Hospital, Highland, IL; he was adopted and raised by his maternal grandparents, John and Florence (nee Wendler) Doty. On March 26, 1977, he married Ella Harper in Belleville, IL.
He was a member of the 1 st United Methodist Church, Lebanon, where he was a former member of the Board of Trustees. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 618. He served as a Tank Retriever Commander in the 2/1 Calvary Blackhawk Vietnam, U.S. Army.
Butch was a member of the VFW in Mascoutah, IL. He loved his family, and was very proud of his sons. He especially loved his grandsons who called him Paw Paw Butch.
He is survived by his wife, Ella Doty, Lebanon, IL; 3 sons, Alan (Tracy) Doty, Kevin (Candis) Doty, Brian (Allyson) Doty; 6 grandchildren, Raleigh, Connor, Wyatt, Kullen, Kyler, and Maxwell Doty; 4 brothers, Kenny Jackson, Robert Baer, Charles Baer, Jack (Doris) Brock.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Annette Sayles; by his parents, John & Florence Doty, Sr, 1 uncle, John Doty, Jr.; 1 nephew, Chris Brock.
Memorials may be made to the 1 st United Methodist Church or Operation Resilient & Hope.
Visitation: Wednesday, September 11, 2013, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and Thursday, September 12, 2013, from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the 1 st United Methodist Church, Lebanon, IL.
Funeral: Thursday, September 12, 2013, at 11:00 am at the1 st United Methodist Church, Lebanon, IL.
